BITS Foundation sits as the core of the BITS BY MANI Prison Ministry initiative aims to provide a support system for incarcerated individuals by addressing their physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs, with the ultimate goal of reducing recidivism and fostering reintegration into society

Spiritual
Development

Our spiritual development program focuses on inner healing and character development. Through Bible study sessions, prayer meetings, and pastoral counseling, we help inmates discover their purpose and develop a strong moral foundation. A core program with BITS Foundation. 

Program Components:

  • Weekly Bible study sessions led by qualified chaplains and Pastor Mani.
  • We visit every 1st, 3rd and last Thursday.
  • One-on-one spiritual counseling and mentorship with the Inmates.
  • Prayer and meditation sessions for the inmates.
  • Faith-based support groups.

Impact:
4000+ inmates have deepened their faith, experienced spiritual renewal, and pursued a closer walk with God. 

Education & Academic
Empowerment

We provide inmates with access to quality education, helping them complete foundational studies and pursue higher learning. By funding WAEC, GCE, JAMB, and enrollment in NOUN University, we open doors for academic advancement and brighter futures, both during incarceration and after release.

Program Components:

  • WAEC and GCE exam preparation and sponsorship
  • JAMB registration and support for tertiary admission
  • Enrollment opportunities in NOUN University for higher education
  • Literacy and adult education classes for foundational learning
  • Mentorship and academic counseling to guide educational goals

Impact:
1,500+ inmates have successfully written national exams, with many admitted into NOUN University and preparing for life-changing careers post-release.

Vocational Skills
Training

We equip inmates with practical, marketable skills that enable them to earn a living within the prison walls and upon release. Our training programs are designed to meet current market demands and provide sustainable employment opportunities.

Program Components:

  • Carpentry and woodworking certification
  • Tailoring and fashion design courses
  • Computer literacy and digital skills
  • Entrepreneurship and business development
  • Agricultural and farming techniques

Impact:
85% of trained inmates become self-employed within 6 months of release

Legal Aid
Services

We partner with a legal firm to provide legal support, ensuring inmates receive fair treatment and proper representation. Our legal aid program helps navigate the justice system and protects the rights of the incarcerated.

Program Components:

  • Free legal consultation and advice
  • Court representation for eligible cases
  • Appeals and case review services
  • Pro bono legal support for inmates who cannot afford representation
  • Court representation for eligible cases
  • Bail applications and surety support
  • Appeals and wrongful detention cases

Impact:
200+ inmates have received legal aid assistance through Bits Foundation

Post-Release
Support

Bits Foundation’s commitment doesn’t end at the prison gates. We provide comprehensive post-release support to ensure successful reintegration into society and reduce recidivism rates.

Program Components:

  • Job placement assistance and career guidance
  • Housing and accommodation support
  • Ongoing counseling and mentorship
  • Financial literacy and budgeting training
  • Family reunification programs

Impact:
92% of supported ex-inmates remain crime-free after 2 years

Christmas & Easter
Love Outreach

We bring joy and warmth to inmates during festive seasons, reminding them that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten. Through special celebrations filled with gifts, meals, and uplifting messages, we create an atmosphere of belonging, hope, and spiritual renewal during these significant periods.

Program Components:

  • Christmas Gift Bag: Packed with cooked meals, soft drinks, slippers, underwear, shirts, provisions, toiletries, fruits, snacks, and other essentials to spread festive cheer.
  • Easter Love Feast: Holy Communion service, special meals and drinks, inspirational sermons, guest appearances, music, and drama performances to lift spirits and inspire faith.
  • Fellowship and Worship Sessions: Heartfelt praise and worship moments that bring spiritual renewal during the season.

Impact:
100s of Inmates have felt cherished and hopeful, celebrating Christmas and Easter with God’s love, faith, and a renewed sense of belonging.
